8 saker att älska om Eclipse trailern

Freanet.com har lagt upp en kort sammanfattning över vad de älskade med trailern som kom ut på fredagen – och här kommer det nu.

Eftersom vissa av er vill vänta och inte få reda på något om Eclipe innan premiären lägger jag ett ‘läs vidare’ på detta inlägg.
Dock är det ingen spoiler alert för er som redan sett trailern! ;) Den svenska översättningen kommer under den engelska!

David Slade’s dark and gloomy Seattle
With that aerial shot of rainy downtown Seattle, Slade opens up the Twilight world beyond the small town scope of Forks and Quileute country. Even during the span of the trailer, stakes feel higher than before, especially since more emphasis is placed on the killings in Seattle than there was in the book, where Bella’s life was always front and center. Whether it’s Riley being attacked in a darkened alley or later, leading a pack of newborns as they crawl insidiously over logs and machinery to gather at the dock, you already feel the tension mounting towards the big showdown between the Cullens, the wolves, and Victoria.

Jacob the Bad-ass
Ever since Bella chose Edward over his wolfy self at the end of New Moon, Jacob’s been rather hostile. Distant. Hot. The Eclipse trailer opens as Jacob shows up to surprise Bella and Edward with a warning — but this isn’t that old familiar warm ‘n’ cuddly Jacob Black. It’s a new, metrosexual, ”I wear a black muscle tee because I’m tough” Jacob Black. With a steely Seagal-esque gaze he speaks for his pack with a resounding, ”We’re in.” He wants really bad to KILL something. Later, he PUNCHES something in anger! Taylor Lautner conveys a confidence that we haven’t seen before, and we like it.

The Wolf Pack!
Surely the final Eclipse trailer could have included more shirtless boys (tally: one brief shirtless Jacob shot), but we do get to see plenty of the Wolf Pack in wolfy, fighting form. Slade appears to have kept mostly to the wolf models that Chris Weitz created for New Moon, although in some shots they look a bit more photorealistic — the sensitive eyes are less emphasized since they’re in hunt mode. Sure, they still look oversized and otherworldly, but the vision of the newborn fight exploding with snarling, slo-mo wolves has me excited.

The Cullens!
We were wondering when we’d get to see more of our favorite veggie vampire family, and the Eclipse trailer does not skimp. Carlisle and the gang show up to formulate their plans to figure out who’s creating the vampire army in Seattle, Alice has a nice close-up line of dialogue, and Jasper gets his moment to shine as he leads the clan in to battle with his Confederate Army know-how. (The fight in the clearing looks amazing.) What I’m still not crazy about is the Cullen family hair, which looks a bit updated (Alice’s bob has a nice little flip to it) but still looks, well, just a tad silly (check out Jasper’s fabulous mane!). Not coincidentally, Peter Facinelli and Ashley Greene are probably two of the more popular fan fave cast members. Did they get more face time because of their popularity?

The introduction of Riley
Curiously, the trailer downplays Victoria’s presence in favor of showing more of Riley. (Perhaps this is on purpose to deflect fan attention from the New Victoria, Bryce Dallas Howard.) But since Riley is played by Aussie actor Xavier Samuel, star of the recent horror flick The Loved Ones, I really didn’t mind. Samuel strikes a few menacing poses himself as Riley leads Victoria’s army closer to Bella, and that shot of him and the newborns walking out of the water like Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now is kind of awesome.

The newborn fight in the clearing
The biggest gift the final trailer gives us is the newborn fight, which should be the most action-packed moment in Eclipse. Slade’s vision of how it goes down is pretty thrilling, even in snippets — his camera rushes in as both sides, good vampires vs. evil vampires, run headlong into each other from the left and right. In the battle, a figure that looks like Alice runs toward a baddie and vaults out of the way just as one of the wolves grabs him. A wolf with reddish fur (is it Jacob?) tumbles with a vampire. Victoria, who’s evaded captors with her super speed in previous movies, shows off some new moves as she leaps from tree to tree in a forest chase.

The tent scene
Since this trailer’s all about action, we don’t really see much of the love triangle at the heart of the story. But we do get a brief glimpse of a scene between Bella and Jacob — he’s shirtless and it’s snowy, so this could be part of the famed ”sleeping bag/tent scene” — which is laden with heavy emotional glances and shot in gorgeous natural-looking light with what looks to be a handheld camera, an element that promises to give parts of Eclipse a feel more akin to the intimacy of the first film.

Edward in action! Kinda…
While the fight in the clearing shows mostly the Cullens and Co. vs. the newborns, Edward does get a bit of action here. It’s probably him chasing Victoria through the trees (it’s hard to see in this trailer) but it’s definitely him guarding Bella as Victoria gets closer, and it’s him pushing over a massive tree that Victoria’s hiding in. Fear not, fans — as the teaser and previously released stills show, Edward should get plenty of the other kind of action in Eclipse (you know, the kind that involves making out), and shots of him looking concerned and adorable and proposing to Bella elsewhere in the trailer solidify his hold on Bella’s (and our) hearts.

David Slades dystra Seattle
Med ett regnigt Seattle öppnar Slade upp världen utanför Forks och Quileute området åt oss. Ribban är ställd högre upp för denna trailer speciellt med tanke på att de nyfödda verkar få en större roll under filmens lopp medan boken fokuserar allt från Bellas synvinkel. Om det så är Riley som blir attackerad i en mörk gränd eller ledande ett gäng med nyfödda vampyrer mot Bella genom att kräla och krypa genom arbetsfält och trädstammar känner du hur spänningen leder dig mot det stora slutet mellan Cullen familjen, varulvarna och Victoria.

Jacob är en tuffing
Efter att Bella valde Edward över Jacob, har han varit rätt ovänlig. Hållit sig på avstånd. Het.  Eclipse trailern börjar med att Jacob dyker upp och överraskar Bella och Edward med en varning — men detta är inte den gamla, bekanta och varma Jacob. Det är en ny, metrosexuell, ”Jag har på mig en svart (‘muskel avslöjande’) t-shirt för att jag är tuff” Jacob Black. Med en hård Seagal-liknande blick han talar för sin förpackning med ett rungande: ”We’re in.” Hanverkligen DÖDA något riktigt illa. Senare, slår han något i ilska! Taylor Lautner förmedlar ett självförtroende som vi inte har sett förut, och vi gillar det.

The Wolf Pack!
Visst kunde den sista Eclipse trailern ha tagit in mer tröjlösa pojkar (läs: en kort, tröjlös scen med Jacob), men vi får se mycket av Wolf Pack i vargig och stridande form. Slade verkar för det mesta hållit fast vid vargmodeller som Chris Weitz skapade för New Moon, men i vissa fall ser de lite mer fotorealistiska ut – den känsliga ögon är mindre betonat eftersom de är i jaktläge. Visst ser de fortfarande överdimensionerade och världsfrämmande, men bilden av kampen mot de nyfödda, exploderande med morrande, har slow-motion vargarna mig exalterad.

The Cullens!
Vi undrade när vi skulle få se mer av våra favorit Veggie vampyrfamilj och Eclipse trailern snålar inte. Carlisle och gänget dyker upp för att formulera sina planer för att lista ut vem som skapar vampyrarmén i Seattle, Alice har en fin närbild linje av dialog, och Jasper får sin stund att glänsa när han leder klanen i att kämpa med sin Confederate Army kunskap. (Kampen i öppningen ser fantastiskt ut.) Vad jag fortfarande inte är helt galen i är familjens hår, som ser lite uppdaterad ut (Alices bob har en fin liten flip) men fortfarande ser dett, ja, bara en smula löjligt ut (kolla Jasper fantastiska kalufs!). Inte helt oväntat, Peter Facinelli och Ashley Greene är förmodligen två av de populäraste fan fave skådespelarna. Har de får mer tid på grund av deras popularitet?

Märkligt nog så överskuggas Victorias närvaro för att visa mer av Riley. (Kanske är det med avsikt att avleda fläkt uppmärksamheten från de nya Victoria, Bryce Dallas Howard.) Men sedan Riley spelas av Australenska skådespelaren Xavier Samuel, stjärnan i den senaste skräckfilm The Loved Ones, så är det helt okej med mig. Samuel poserar lite hotfullt själv när Riley leder Victorias armé närmare Bella, och scenen av honom och den nyfödda när de går upp ur vattnet som Martin Sheen i Apocalypse Now är ganska häftigt.

Kampen mot de nyfödda i gläntan
Den största gåva sista trailern ger oss är det kampen mot de nyfödda, som bör vara den mest actionfyllda ögonblicket i Eclipse. Slade vision om hur det går till är ganska spännande, även i utdrag – hans kamera rusar in som båda sidor, goda vampyrer vs onda vampyrer, de springer huvudstupa in i varandra från vänster och höger. I striden, en figur som ser ut som Alice springer mot en bov och hoppar ur vägen precis när en av vargarna tar honom. En varg med rödaktig päls (är det Jakob?) tumlar med en vampyr. Victoria, som är undvek att bli fångad med sin superfart i tidigare filmer visar upp några nya rörelser när hon hoppar från träd till träd i en skog jakt.

Tältscen
Eftersom denna trailer handlar om action som vi inte riktigt se mycket av triangeldramat som är i centrum för berättelsen. Men vi får en kort glimt av en scen mellan Bella och Jacob – han bar överkropp och det är snö, så det kan vara en del av det berömda ”sovsäck/tältscenen” – som är lastad med tunga känslomässiga blickar och tagningar i underbara naturliga ljus med vad som ser ut att vara en handhållen kamera, ett inslag som lovar att ge delar av Eclipse en känna sig mer besläktad med intimitet i den första filmen.

Edward i aktion! Typ…
Medan kampen i gläntan mest visar Cullens och Co vs nyfödda, får Edward också lite action här. Det är nog han som jagar Victoria genom träden (det är svårt att se i denna trailer) men det är definitivt han vaktade Bella som Victoria närmar sig, och det är han som puttar ett massivt träd som Victoria’s gömmer sig i. Frukta inte, fans – som teaser och tidigare släppta stillbilder visa, Edward bör få gott om andra typer av åtgärder i Eclipse (ni vet, det slag som innefattar att hångla), och bilder av honom ser berörda och bedårande och fria till Bella någon annanstans i trailern gör att hans grepp om Bella (och vår) hjärtan hårdnar.
